NEW FEATURES OF V9 The base SmartCode is shorter and simpler than Version 8. Sections that were rarely used have been made into supplementary Modules, to be incorporated during calibration if desired. Article 2 is called Regional Scale Plans instead of Sector Scale Plans. The unit of classification is still a Sector. Article 3 Sequence of Community Design provides instruction for users. Article 4 provisions are clearer with regard to different sized parcels in Infill. Article 5 has been restructured so that it is shorter and simpler. Builders working in multiple T-zones will find it easier to compare the differences. Table 1 is organized by types appropriate to each Transect Zone. Table 8 gives more graphic information about Building Configuration. Table 13 Civic Space minimum sizes are smaller. Article 7 Definitions are more complete, including terms that appear on Tables. The Streetscape section is now called Thoroughfare to reflect New Urbanist thinking about frontage context. TOD is classified as an overlay on either TND or RCD, differing only by a 30% density bonus at the site scale. Special District provisions are noted at the Community Scale, not just the Regional Scale. There are minor revisions throughout the code for improved clarity. |
